HUMAN DENTITION :-

Dentition

The arrangement or condition of the teeth in a particular species or individual is called Dentition.
Human beings have two sets of teeth:-
• A Deciduous set
• A Permanent set

TYPES :-

Dentition

The teeth are divided into four groups
according to their form:

  1. Incisor group
  2. Canine group
  3. Premolar group
  4. Molar group

FUNCTION :-

  • INCISORS= wide, flat, sharp cutting edge and snipping food.
  • CANINE= Shaped like daggers and used for cutting Griping, ripping food.
  • MOLAR AND PREMOLARS= Flat surface used for grinding. Molar teeth large but pre-molar is smaller.

IMPORTANCE OF DENTAL CARE
FOR CHILD :-

Dental care
  1. Children’s teeth and gum can have a direct impact on their overall health.
  2. Dental problem can affect the self-esteem of children, making them reluctant to smile or engage in conversation.
  3. It leads to low school grades and overall performance.
  4. Poor dental care can result in gum disease, decay, tooth loss, poor nutrition and sleep problems.

CARING FOR A CHILD TEETH :-

  1. Feed balanced diet to your kids; including high vegetables.
  2. Avoid sugary food and drink ,it leads to tooth decay.
  3. Give plenty of fluoride water to drink.

CARING FOR A CHILD TEETH :-

  1. Use soft toothbrush specifically designed for kids.
  2. Take care that child don’t swallow the tooth paste.
  3. Use fluoride toothpaste.
  4. Brush & floss at least twice a day.

Dental issues commonly addressed in pediatric patients=

  1. Baby bottle caries
  2. Thumb sucking
  3. Misaligned teeth
  4. Tooth decay
  5. Tooth loss
  6. Pearly teeth
  7. Teeth stain

TOOTH DECAY :-

  • Refers to the loss of minerals from tooth structure caused by bacteria.
  • The tooth surface are normally covered with dental plaque.
  • The bacteria in the dental plaque will metabolize the sugars in your food and produce acids which will demineralise the tooth surface.
  • 60-90% of kids are suffering from this.
Tooth decay

TOOTH DECAY CAUSES=

  1. Toothache
  2. Bad breath
  3. Unpleasant odour

TREATMENT :-

  • Fluoride treatment
  • Dental filling
  • Crown
  • RCT
  • Extraction-it varies with the level of decay
